Presidential race

Image
It was decided. It was time for the United States to finally take a new step. After centuries of improvement of what the Greeks dared to call democracy, despite of excluding women and slaves. Not to mention the fact that there were slaves in Ancient Greece. The good thing is that there was a big evolution and it was really possible to experience decades of democracy closer to the ideal. The downside is that, even so, elected officials often remained politicians with little or no competence at all, as well as highly dubious intentions. It was   then that someone came up with the big idea. In both the Ancient and Middle Ages, many rulers were chosen among the best warriors of the people, in epic challenges. In this model, at least one form of competence was tested at its limit. A model similar to that of ancient times was needed. Of course, without the violence that our wild ancestors used to love. The solution should have something more advanced, a touch more consistent with our con...

Sommelier

Image
With a serious and thoughtful look, sitting at the counter of one of the most prestigious wine shops in the city, he looked at the glass. More than just looking, he put all his energy, thought and senses to work with a focus on that liquid content. He tilted the glass slightly, placed his nose gently closer to the wine and smelled that special scent. Then, he poured the divine drink into his mouth and after a brief rinse, swallowed the contents. That’s when, still   with a serious look and focused on a single point, he gave his long-awaited impression: - The predominantly red fruit scent shows all the lightness of this wine. A round and soft type, bold without losing its elegance. If you let your taste buds pay attention to all the details, you will notice a taste typical of the country in which it was produced. Some might think that this is a typical French. But the more prepared ones, for sure, identify the woody touch that only Chilean barrels carry. Anyway, a sublime Merlot. Im...

Perfect burglary

Image
It was close to 10 pm. The exact time of the shift changing for the surveillance at the mansion. The perfect time to act. Then, a hooded figure dressed in black, protected by the moonless night launched its first movement, with ropes and hooks to climb the gigantic wall around the house. Gloves and other rubber materials in their cloth i ng and some bodily ability helped the intruder to pass through the electric fence at the top of the wall as well. The next obstacle would be the dogs. To distract them all, a banquet was brought in a bag: pounds and pounds of sausage. Rapidly, the dogs were fighting over food, which would bring them more glory than running after a thief who was now at the bottom of the stairs towards the main entrance. But it was clear that this would be the most difficult place to enter. Nobody leaves the main access to the house unprotected. It would be enough to take a short walk to discover the security breach. The mansion had hundreds of windows, certainly one of ...

The enchanted horse

Image
She was already tired of that mission. The most courageous horsewoman in the kingdom had been on a dangerous journey for 3 years. Countless warriors tried to find the enchanted horse, but never returned. Always at the request of the queen, with an enchanted map in their luggage, many men and women went to the ends of the world and later disappeared. And somehow, as if it were a fluke of fate, the map returned to the queen’s hands, bringing the proof of her champion’s failure. No one had ever brought the enchanted horse. But with Valka it would be different. She was different. No one had ever beaten Valka even in sports competitions. Not even when she was hungover after a long night at the tavern. She was certainly the best at riding horses, the best swordswoman and the best hand-to-hand fighter in the entire kingdom. Why hadn’t she accepted the mission before? She just was had more fun things to do. When she turned 27, she thought that maybe it was time to have more maturity and accept...
